Only West Ham can do this sort of business.

Absolutely agree. If he does do well enough where Man U want to offer him a new contract, he will be in a strong position to negotiate.

The only risk for him to wait out his contract is if he were to get a bad injury near the end of the season. That might be part of the reason his old man is pushing for a new deal now.

Loads of different considerations aren’t there! And he’s a free agent at the end of the year, he’s in the England squad, could well be involved in all domestic competitions, we, or somebody else, get him next year on a free. Life’s looking good. What I wouldn’t do if I was him is sign another contract with Man Utd

Re: West Ham still hopeful they CAN strike another loan deal for Man United's Jesse Lingard
There is always the distinct possibility that Lingard, being a Man U fan who surely as a child worshipped Ronaldo, has decided he is willing to risk not playing much this season just to be part of the squad up there. Training with Ronaldo and surely sometimes playing with him. That’s the stuff of boyhood dreams.

He’s confident enough to think he might force his way in more than many think possible, after all, he was better than Rashford, Martial last season, and even better than Fernandes (from January on).

I don't think Dan James has anything to do with it. They've just signed Ronaldo and Sancho, that's why James is surplus to requirements, and Lingard wasn't needed when they had fewer attacking midfielders, so I can't see him being needed much now either. If he does play at all it would likely be in AM, not LW where Dan James plays.

Cant see them letting him go if Dan James is off anyway....dont blame Lingard for staying....if he backs himself to get in that side then good luck to him.....end of day he is a Man Utd fan and after the arrival of Ronaldo probably thinks he could be part of a title winning side

Spot on. It's like having 3 Aces in poker. Another Ace would be amazing but, bottom line, you don't need it to do well.

Man Utd now know that. And they are paying Ronaldo £26m a year. If they can get near that on a transfer for Lingard they will take it in a shot as it pays Ronaldo's salary (or most of).

But, from what i hear through a few pals, Ole gave Lingard option to leave but he doesn't want to uproot his family long term and so has said he wants to stay. Now, it's only what I hear, so not sure if gospel, but if you believe what you hear the decision not to come is Lingards.

We are in 4 competitions Admiral...

It's not like we will play the same team or formation every game, particularly if we get a run in the Europa through to the knockout stages.
We will need all of our midfield players including Fornals, Benrhama, Vlasic, Bowen, Lanzini, Yarmolenko Arthur Masuaku and, if he comes, Lingard.

With that strength in depth we could compete in 3 or 4 competitions if need be.

If Man U are playing hardball on the price, the signing of Vlasic puts the aces in our hand.

I would like us to sign Lingard, but we are not as desperate for him as we were yesterday.

Man U need to offload players and wages. I’m not sure just James to Leeds will do.

Tiick tock, mancs.

If Man Utd want £25m for Lingard at 28 years old I am not sure I would be keen.

But I would trust Moyes judgement as he was right first time round.

Lingard replaced Bowen in January.. You're irrational hatred is affecting your memory son, just because you predicted it to happen and we're desperate to be right doesn't make it so.

Lingard would clearly coming in for Benhrama like he did in January.

I'd imagine Vlasic will eventually replace the overrated Algerian in the starting line up.

There are other players that can be left out..

I like Fornals and he has started the season off great

But you dont leave out a bloke with 9 goals in 16 games and the performances he turned in last season. At one point he was the best player in the whole league for about a month

As an attacking threat comparing him to Fornals is foolish

Re: West Ham still hopeful they CAN strike another loan deal for Man United's Jesse Lingard
Looks like Lingard is doing the best for himself by staying and leaving on a free next year.
This way he can command a higher wage or a lumpy signing on fee which at 29 years old will surely be his last lucrative contract.

Fornals is a very important cog in our team, no way should he make way for Lingard.

Re: West Ham still hopeful they CAN strike another loan deal for Man United's Jesse Lingard
hope we pull this out the bag today, he is miles better than Fornals in that 10 role and gives us much needed options behind the striker

With Dan James heading out of Man Utd though be surprised if they let Jesse go to

Not a case of a 'false nine' just that Moyes seems to wants a striker who can rotate roles to the wing during the game. Antonio switched with Bowen several times in all three games this season, along with occasionally Benny or Fornals going up front.
